Ginette Bourque

1970 - 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ginette Bourque, on June 13, 2021 at the age of fifty. Ginette was the devoted daughter of the late Eugène and Loretta (Norman) Bourque, loving partner of Andrew Gilbert, cherished sister of Robert (Jocelyne Lee) and Alana (Michael Cross), loving aunt to Abigail, Jillian, Evan, Sean, Amy, Dannik and Nicholas and cool stepmother to Julia Brooks. She was a fabulous friend and teacher to many, a shining light and beautiful human being.
Ginette touched so many people as she promoted health and well-being in her role as Phys Ed teacher, fitness and yoga instructor, breast cancer survivor’s running group leader and our family favorite, GiGi’s Bootcamp Sergeant. Her positive outlook on life, warm smile and kind soul had an uplifting and lasting effect on anyone who met her. We were so blessed to have her in our lives.
Ginette was strong willed, determined and never compromised her principles. For her, the glass was always at least half full. After her second cancer diagnosis, she refocused, trained and ran the New York City Marathon. She was a fierce competitor, whether it be in a game of dek hockey or a round of cribbage.
Ginette loved “her Andy”, her family and friends, Hershey and Marina Beach. If we can take anything from Ginette’s passing, it’s that life is short and we need to live every day to the fullest. To let people around us know that we love them. That there is a positive in everything. And that life is for living. Rest in peace, GiGi.

I am so sorry for your loss, my sincere sympathies to all of you. I met Ginette and worked with her at the YMCA, although I was in a different Y but we all connected with Ginette because of her kindness and contagious smile and even when she left the Y, I made sure that she is always implicated in the education aspect and she remained always influential. She touched many people’s life like she touched mine. May she Rest In Peace.

We met over 30 years ago, when life was carefree and full of fun. Every memory I have of you will be cherished forever. We had a saying “ we were twins from another mother” , our thoughts and opinions were always the same. My heart breaks for your family, friends and to all those who will never be blessed with meeting you. Rest In Peace my friend,

Nadia Vani

My sincerest condolences to Ginette's family and friends and close colleagues. She was a pleasure to work with and stretch with during yoga lunches. Many years ago we became friends while chuckling together for a few hours as we sat side by side during a graduation ceremony - her sense of humour and positive outlook were a force of nature! The Champlain community has lost a very bright and beautiful spirit.

I a so sorry to hear of Ginette's passing. We went to high school together at Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School and were on the same volleyball team. She was great - full of life. My sympathies go out to her loved ones.

Today would have been your birthday. Dearest Ginette, many times you were the ray of sunshine in my life, when I should have been that ray in yours. You taught us all the meaning of living life to the fullest and being in the moment. You had already integrated that yogic principle into your life way before we took our course together. Wherever that beautiful soul of yours is, I am sending you love and light, because you truly were that to me. xxxxxx
