I was very saddened to learn of Larry's passing. Back in the early 1960's, our families shared the same house for several years, separated only by a partition. Although Larry was a few years older than me, we became very close friends. Our friendship was based, to a great extent, on our mutual love of rock and roll music and sports. More important was the fact that Larry was a kind and generous person, who was impossible not to like. In 1964, Larry and his family moved down the street into a house next to my parents' small business. We remained very close friends and continued to spend a lot of time together. In 1965, Larry began working at Vilas and purchased his first car - an Austin 850. I can still remember the great times we spent cruising in his car, listening on the car radio to our favorite rock and roll station, while Cousin Brucie played songs by the Beach Boys and Beatles, as Larry and I sang along, without a care in the world. Larry was very good company and helped make my adolescence much happier and memorable than would otherwise have been the case. The last time that I saw Larry, before he developed health issues, he mentioned that he had found a photograph taken at his 21st birthday party. The party was attended by family members, relatives and three friends - myself included. Larry confided that everyone in the picture, with the exception of the two of us, had since passed on. Several months ago, after I learned of Larry's illness, we began corresponding with one another. In the letters, we discussed old times and some of the good memories that we had shared. Also, I was fortunate enough to be able to thank him personally for the kindness and generosity displayed by him towards me, during those years. The courage and strength demonstrated by Larry towards the end, in the face of great adversity, was nothing short of heroic. He signed his last letter, "Your friend - Always." It meant it lot to me at the time and it always will. Rest in peace my old and very good friend
