Colin Donald French

Paisiblement à Lac Brome le 12 décembre 2022 est décédé M. Don French.

Étant jeune homme il s’inscrit au Collège Militaire Royale et gradue comme Officier de vol et devient mitrailleur arrière durant la deuxième guerre mondiale. Il effectue 33 missions au-dessus du territoire ennemi. On lui décerne la croix du service distingué dans l’aviation. Après la guerre il se marrie avec Patricia Shirley Lester.

Il a été précédé dans la mort par son épouse Patricia, sa fille Christy (Hubert Czerwinski) et son fils Kenny (Rosita Lovell). Prédécédé également par son amie de longue date Margo Daigneault. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse actuel Evelyn Blackwood French et sa fille Janet (Claude Boulianne), ainsi que ses 5 petits-enfants et 6 arrière-petits-enfants. Don était un passionné de sport, il a été membre du Club de golf de Knowlton, du Club de golf de Kanawake, du Racket Club de Montréal, du Atwater Club et du MAA. Le golf était sa passion, dans ses temps libres il regardait le golf à la télé.

Il aimait voyager en Europe, Angleterre, Irlande, Écosse, au Moyen Orient et Extrême Orient.

Un service commémoratif aura lieu à l’église Unie de Knowlton (234 Chemin Knowlton, Lac Brome, Qc) le samedi 14 janvier 2023 à 14h, célébré par le révérend Steve Lawson. En mémoire de Don, des dons à la Fondation de l’hôpital BMP de Cowansville seraient appréciés, www.fondationbmp.ca  Il a été confié au salon funéraire

Don passed away peacefully in Lac Brome.

As a young man he attended the Royal Military College and graduated as Flying Officer and proceeded to serve as a rear gunner in WWII. He did 33 missions over enemy territory and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bravery. 
After the war he married Patricia Shirley Lester. He was predeceased by his wife, his daughter Christy (Hubert Czerwinski) and his son Kenny (Rosita Lovell).

Don was also predeceased by his long-time friend Margo Daigneault 
He leaves his present wife Evelyn Blackwood French and his daughter Janet (Claude Boulianne). 
Also 5 grand children and 6 great grand children

Don was an avid sportsman being a member of the Knowlton Golf Club, The Kanawake golf club, the Montreal Racket Club, the Atwater club, and the MAA. Golf was his passion; in his spare time, he watched golf on TV. He loved to travel to Europe, England, Ireland, Scotland, and the middle and far east.

A religious ceremony will be held at the Knowlton United Church 234 Knowlton Road, Lac Brome, QC on January 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Presided by Rev. Steve Lawson.
