In memory of...

Amie Charlotte Starkey

1910 - 2012

Charlotte died at the Brome Mississquoi Perkins Hospital, Cowansville. After a bad fall in her home on May 19.
She was born in Halifax but spent most of her life in Montreal and Knowlton, Quebec. She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh; daughter, Susan; sisters Aileen & Deborah; brothers, Gilbert & John. She is survived by her beloved brother, Bob (Sibyl); son, Tom (Rosalie Belton); daughter, Jane (Stephen Hayes); grandchildren, Shelley (Thomas Klein), Sean, Kate (Johann LeFloc'h) & Alice; and great-grandchildren, Finley, Elin & Julius; as well as much loved nephews, nieces and many, many friends.

Being the eldest of six children, Charlotte after graduating from The Study, took on the responsibility of running a household when her mother became terminally ill. Her life ever after was dedicated to serving the needs of her family as well as the community through volunteerism. The association closest to her heart was the Girl Guides of Canada. Charlotte served as leader, and commissioner over a 55 year period and was awarded the Guides highest honour as well as the Centennial Medal for her tireless work. She was also a tireless gardener and spent many happy hours in her English country garden.

Charlotte had a wonderful attitude towards others. She had a love, respect and curiosity for all those she met. A true lady, she will be missed by all those who crossed her path.
The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people of Knowlton who made our mother's last years as easy as possible; doctors, caregivers and friends, and a special thanks to Phyllis Sise who was always there when Mum needed her.

A memorial service will take place at St Paul's Anglican Church in Knowlton on June 16 at eleven AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BMP Hospital Foundation, 950 rue Principale, Cowansville, J2K 1K3 would be greatly appreciated.
