Dorothy Soles née Salisbury

1934 - 2023

Dorothy (Dot) Soles (nee Salisbury) passed away peacefully at the Foyer in Sutton on April 16, 2023 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Don Soles. She was sister and best friend to Marnie (late Bob Douglas) and her late brother Hugh. She was the kindest and sweetest mother to Sheila (Graham Macey), Bob (Janet Jackson), Steve (Anne Kingston), and Sue (Larry Hadlock). She will also be fondly remembered by her treasured grandchildren Derek, Melissa (Sascha Marini ), Jenna (late Corey Fox), Sam (Drew Dingmann), Ryan (Kiran Pond), and Chris, as well as her 5 great-grandchildren. Her cherished nieces and nephews will also dearly miss their Auntie Dot. Dot’s greatest joy was all the family gatherings with lots of laughter and kids running around. We'll all miss everything about her.

One of Dot's favorite pastimes was visiting with her friends, she was into social networking long before Facebook. She enjoyed weekly, if not daily, phone calls to Marnie, Joan, Janet, Twink, Shirley and Valerie to keep informed on everybody's family news. Dot was also a real farm girl. Her first 20 years were spent on her parents' (George and Reta) farm in North Sutton and as she often said, she was either riding or driving horses. That love of horses continued throughout her life and she still went on trail rides in her 80’s. The next 60+ years were spent with Don and their family on their farm in West Brome where she played an active role in the farm operations. Even in her later years, she kept a close eye on the farm's activities from her kitchen window.

We would like to thank all of the caregivers who supported her in her final months, with endless appreciation to Shirley Arnett and Cecilia Shufelt who assisted Dot with care and kindness and enabled her to stay in her own home until October 2022 and continued to visit her once she lived in assisted care.

A private memorial service will be held with family and close friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy's name to the Sutton Cemeteries inc, (100 rue de la Vallée, Sutton, Qc J0E 2K0). Arrangements entrusted to the
